Teaching Philosophy

I believe that lessons should be positive environments where each individual’s unique background shapes their learning experience. My diverse performance experience allows me to help students make music they sincerely love and wish to share. Each student I work with develops a “tool kit” of practice and performance strategies. Using these strategies, students are able to confidently manage challenges and truly focus on what matters; music and community!

I have nine years of private and group teaching experience, which includes two years spent completing a longterm graduate certificate in Suzuki Pedagogy. My teaching approach is a unique blend of the Suzuki Method and several other pedagogical techniques, with a focus on helping grow well-rounded artists of all ages. Many of my school age students are members of local honor orchestras, including the Boise Youth Philharmonic and Boise All-City Honor Orchestra.
